How does the problem impact the environment?
The problem of having food deserts are causing many young teens and adults increase the rate of obesity and diabetes.
Living in a food desert is limiting the access of being able to buy healthy food which is impacting the peoples lives by not eating healthy day by day. The low-income communities have teens who could afford no more than 20 dollars of junk food in liquors/7 elevens, fast foods from the one dollar menu, and Starbucks, these teens instead of eating healthy prefer to eat chips, candy, cookies, or from fast food restaurants.

In all the U.S. household, 2.2 percent live more than a mile away from supermarkets and do not have access a vehicle, 3.5 live half-mile to a mile to a supermarket with a still no access to a vehicle.
